Hot on the heels of their success with the Metallica and Aerosmith versions, the latest edition of the wildly popular video game Guitar Hero franchise will feature Van Halen.
Activision is currently developing Guitar Hero: Van Halen, which is due out in the latter half of 2009. The game will allow users to play Van Halen's greatest hits as well as songs by Weezer, Queen, The Offspring and Queens Of The Stone Age.
The company hasn't yet confirmed which members of Van Halen will be avatars in the game, but when asked if the game would feature David Lee Roth or his successor Sammy Hagar, an Activision representative responded, "This is definitely Van Halen, not Van Hagar." Daaaamn. Need some neosporin for that burn, Sammy?
The releases of Hard Rock Van Halen, Guitar Hero 5, DJ Hero, and Band Hero will span four platforms (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and PS2) and are expected occur within the span of a few months during the second half of the year.
Activision also has plans to release another Guitar Hero: On Tour title for the DS during 2009.
