![]() By Aaron Seaney | So hopefully your Valentine’s Day was awesome, with you, your significant other, and some Raving Rabbids. This week however we get back to the action with a game that was oddly released months after its block buster counterpart. While this game was overall poorly received, there were some features of it that put this game above all of its predecessors. So this week we swoop in with Superman Returns. |
Game: Superman Returns
System: PS2, Xbox, and Xbox360
Price: 19.99 new
Superman Returns came out in theatres in the summer of 2006, and with comic book movies you are almost always guaranteed to see a game come out with it the week before. Some games lately however have fallen into the trend of coming out the week of or week after, so they don’t ruin the ending of the movie. However this was not the case with Superman Returns, while everyone was expecting this game to come out in June with the movie, the reality was is the fact that the due date got mysteriously pushed back to November. However in my opinion this game was worth the wait.
Superman Returns took a page from the book of Spider-Man 2 from activsion, by making the game completely free roaming. You could fly all over the city, using any of your powers to stop whatever crime comes your way. One of the downfalls of the game however was the “crime” that you stopped. Instead of bank robbers, or the occasional purse snatcher you pretty much fight crazy huge aliens and dragons the entire time. While the game didn’t really allow for any variation it made up for it in pure mindless entertainment. Flying around so fast that you’re making sonic booms, and destroying pretty much anything you want with several different powers. While Superman Returns definitely has its flaws the fact remains it is one that every comic book fan should own especially being as incredibly cheap as it is.
