Company of Heroes: Opposing Forces

Opposing Forces is now ready to be manufactured.

Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts has reached the all important gold master stage in its development and is now entering the manufacturing stage. In the PC market RTS (real time strategy) games rule the charts with a ton of games that reach out over several genre’s from realistic warfare to space battles. As the market place swells with competition THQ has managed to carve it’s own niche with the Company of Heroes franchise. This sequel will bring more to the table by offering gamers two new armies to use as well new multiplayer options.

In the second game players are given the chance to play as either the German Panzer Elite (I guess it’s politically incorrect these days to call them the bad guys, but if the shoe fit’s…) or the British 2nd Army  into a pivotal battle in France. While the game is a sequel, as opposed to an expansion pack, players are benefited by owning the original game, the two combine to generate the extra multiplayer modes. Even without the first game, players will have a complete standalone gameplay experience. The game also boasts new mission persistence, improved vehicle and soldier AI, enhanced physics and a dynamic weather system (that sounds really promising).

Relic Entertainment has been working on this game for THQ and were reached to comment of their latest RTS in the franchise. "Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts is a massive game, featuring two new campaigns with more campaign content than the original, significant enhancements to our proprietary Essence engine, and two totally unique new armies for multiplayer action," said Tarrnie Williams, general manager, Relic Entertainment. "We've consistently redefined the standard for excellence in the RTS genre over the last five years, and Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts represents another leap forward in technology and strategic gameplay."
