Sony and Insomniac Games are currently prepping the release of Resistance 3 for September 6, 2011, a game that picks up the threads left behind by Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, as sequels typically do. But what if you’re one of the few that never played the original two Resistance titles? Will story beats fly over your head? Will some of Resistance 3’s more dramatic moments fall flat to you? Well, we can’t rightfully answer those questions just yet because we haven’t played Resistance 3, dummy.

But if you don’t want to risk spending $60 on a game that has no impact on you because you skipped the previous two entries, then take note of Sony’s impending release of the Resistance Greatest Hits Dual Pack. The bundle will contain both Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, as well as bonus content for Resistance 3, for $39.99. IGN was the first to learn of this bundle pack via a flyer insert in the Battle: Los Angeles blu-ray.

If you were to buy both Resistance 1 and 2 separately you’d be spending $60. So you might as well hold out for this summer’s release of the Resistance Greatest Hits Dual Pack to save yourself some cheddar.
