No Rest for the Nerdy – Vol. 22

We frolic with elves and fairies in Hyrule Field this weekend.

We never stop playing video games. That’s a fact. Even after we call it quits for the week we still look forward to getting home and continuing our digital conquests. It’s our life blood. So we thought it would be fun to share with everyone what our gaming intentions are for the weekend so you guys can get a sense of what we're playing and enjoying on a weekly, non-formal basis. Yes, this concept isn't new to the internet. But hey, we kind of want to join in on the fun. Can you blame us for that? So without further ado, here’s what we’re playing this weekend that will forfeit any semblance of rest…

Also, since we've caught up with the rest of the internet and now feature a comment section, sound off below to let us know what your gaming plans are this weekend.

erikErik Norris: As of right now, I have no new games to review. Therefore, I might take this opportunity to put a dent in my backlog. I currently have LittleBigPlanet 2, Mafia II and — yes, I’m going there — Dragon Age 2 sitting on my desk, unopened and collecting dust.

Since I just wrapped up L.A. Noire (awesome, btw), I might pass on Mafia II for the time being. I’m not saying the game’s are the same, but I don’t want the Mafia II experience sullied because I draw unwarranted connections between the two games since I’m playing them back to back. So, that pretty much leaves either LBP 2 or Dragon Age 2. It’s going to be a game-time decision that will probably be fueled by alcohol. I’ll let you know which one I chose next week.

joeyJoey Davidson: What to play… what to play…?

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D showed up in the middle of this past week. It’s been stuck in my 3DS ever since. Riding Epona, fighting zombies, claiming Spirit Stones and jumping off the waterfall in Zora’s realm have all been incredibly nostalgic, wonderful highlights of the quest so far.

Erik and I were talking about the refresh last night over the phone. As I told him then, the first time I heard the morning jingle in Hyrule Field I couldn’t help but crack a massive smile. That’s what the adventure’s been about for me so far. And, while I’m no where near finished yet, I’m already framing the review in the same manner.

The game is a celebration of where Link has been and where he’s headed. I’ll be enjoying that all weekend. And then, maybe, Minecraft. What can I say?

alexAlex Keen: If I get the time (and this is a big if), I plan on playing some Duke Nukem Forever multiplayer.  Seriously.  With a giant abundance of unlockable babes to earn, I figured it was worth my time to research. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

I’m still playing Hanging with Friends on my iPod.  It's getting a bit redundant and I don’t see it maintaining itself in my game queue much longer.  The games are starting to last too long and my competition is getting smarter about how to succeed.  At least the blatant cheating that destroyed Words with Friends has not appeared yet.

Besides that, I hope to jump back into Borderlands and the free games Sony gave out.  More than likely, though, I’ll wind up watching Elmo’s Potty Time for the fiftieth time.

mikeMike White: Life was so simple when I only played one game. The game. Damn you Erik and Joey for dragging me away from it. I want to give The Witcher 2 a rest before playing through it again, but I have too many options. NCsoft was kind enough to ship me a package with Guild Wars, Aion and City of Heroes including expansions and game time. I’ve heard that Dungeons and Dragons Online has some of the best dungeon content in MMOs. Lord of the Rings Online has been through some major updates as well. What about Vindictus? That game looked amazing…

It’ll be hard to settle on which one to dive into, especially with League of Legends beckoning me to get owned mercilessly. Odds are I’ll be doing just that until my day off on Monday when I’ll actually have to time to invest in starting up a new MMO.
