We might have our first details about the inevitable Dead Space 3 from EA and Visceral Games. Our friends over at Siliconera have discovered, via anonymous source within EA, that Dead Space 3 will not take place on a spooky, dialect ship or space station like the previous two games in the series. Instead, Dead Space 3 will have Isaac traversing a snowy, ice planet with “white-out” blizzard conditions.
Before you proceed much further, let me warn you that there are spoilers below concerning the ending of Dead Space 2. So if you haven’t finished the second Dead Space, turn away now.
Apparently, early in Dead Space 3, Isaac crash lands on the icy planet of Tau Volantis, believing himself to be the sole survivor. In order to escape a massive snowstorm, Isaac makes his way to an abandoned waystation for shelter. It is there that he discovers there are other survivors scattered out across other waystation, one of which is Ellie from Dead Space 2. Eventually Isaac and Ellie reunite, along with a third, new character named Jennifer, and the three hatch a scheme to get off the icy rock, but not without running into new creatures referred to as the “hive mind.”
These early story details sound interesting, but it’s also worth noting that this is technically still rumor status. Until EA Games and Visceral formally announce Dead Space 3, we’re going to have to take this news with a grain of salt. But it is exciting to learn Dead Space 3 is in the planning stages. The last game in the series, Dead Space 2, was incredible, so hopefully Visceral can keep that level of quality going into the third title.
