Ubisoft has announced that one of their bigger titles planned for the Wii U's launch, Rayman Legends, will not be available before 2012 ends. The game now has an expected release window of early 2013.
In a statement shared with MCV, a Ubisoft spokesperson had this to say:
"Rayman Legends will launch worldwide in the first quarter of 2013…
We’re happy that fans are excited about the game, and we are taking the time to make sure we deliver a game that lives up to and hopefully exceeds their expectations. We’ll have more details to share soon."
The good news, of course, is that the devs have recognized that the game apparently has some flaws that will degrade its overall playability. Rayman Origins was fantastic partially because of how silky smooth it ran in play and navigation. That needs to translate to Rayman Legends.
Still, we're bummed that the only major 2D platformer we'll see on the Wii U this holiday is New Super Mario Bros. U. Bummed in an excited sort of way.
