The good news: The PlayStation Vita is getting a new Uncharted game.
The bad news: it’s a card game that works as a semi expansion of the Uncharted game already out on Vita, Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
The PlayStation Blog has gone live with the game’s first trailer and some preliminary details, and you can practically hear the hearts of millions of Uncharted fans break simultaneously. The Vita needs more killer-app games, specifically Uncharted. What it doesn’t really need is this:
According to the Chris Reese, technical director at Sony Bend Studio, Uncharted: Fight for Fortune is a card game that pits teams of Uncharted heroes and villains against one another. In order to win, you augment your deck of cards with “powerful Resource and valuable Fortune cards,” which you unlock by exploring the previously released Vita Uncharted game, Golden Abyss. Basically, Uncharted: Fight for Fortune is an excuse to give all the collectibles of Golden Abyss slightly more value. Frankly, we’re not impressed.
But hey, we never judge a book solely by its cover – we’ll wait till we get the game in our hands to make a final assessment. But we can openly grumble when a new Uncharted game is announced that isn’t what we so clearly want – more classic Uncharted. Instead, we get a card game.
All complaining aside, Uncharted: Fight for Fortune will be only $4.99 when it releases on December 4, 2012, for PS Vita. Hardly breaking the wallet.
So, will you be giving this card game a shack? Sound off below with your thoughts.
