Industry analysts are oftentimes like weathermen; they make a lot of money just shooting in the dark. Take, for instance, their predictions with Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

Some believed that the Call of Duty franchise was finally on a decline, sales wise, simply because Activision didn’t report five-day earnings for the title, something they’ve done for the past three years with previous Call of Duty titles. After the news of Black Ops 2 reaching $500 million in just 24 hours, there was radio silence. This was call for concern by analysts, who believed Call of Duty was finally losing steam.

Wrong.

Activision might have skipped their earnings report after five days, but they have struck back with a 15-day earnings report, which claims Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has earned the company $1 billion in its first 15 days at retail. That’s one day faster than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 from last year, and two days faster than Avatar hit the billion dollar mark back in 2009 when it opened in theaters.

Conclusion: the Call of Duty monster is not slowing down anytime soon.
