This is an odd turn of events. A press release landed in our lap this morning announcing LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, which is being developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive. The game is slated for Xbox 360, PS3, PS Vita, Wii U, PC, 3DS and DS, with a launch window of fall 2013.
The game will be your typical LEGO video game adventure, and will feature over 100 Marvel characters to unlock, ranging from Spider-Man, Iron Man, Wolverine, Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Deadpool, Loki, and even the world eater, Galactus. The game will follow an original storyline where Nick Fury and the rest of the Marvel heroes must put a stop to both Loki and Galactus.
What’s so shocking about this news is that Warner Bros. is typically exclusively associated with DC Comics since they own them, not Marvel, hence why they’ve already done a number of LEGO Batman games and have published Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham City. But hey, Marvel must have wanted a taste of that sweet brick pie and were willing to part with a rather large chunk of change to get WB and TT Games to take notice.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a trailer available yet. Nor are there any screenshots to ogle over. We just have the above promo art banner. But if you want to know what the game will probably look like, just picture a few Marvel characters… and now LEGO-ize them. Done.
We’ll be back with more on this surprise announcement when we know it.
