The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences have announced the nominations for the 16th annual D.I.C.E. Awards, which are arguably the video game industry’s most prestigious yearly event since they're based entirely on peer voting amongst industry folk. The awards will take place on Thursday, February 7 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the 2013 D.I.C.E. Summit. Chris Hardwick of Nerdist.com and AMC’s Talking Dead fame will host the event.

Leading the pack with 11 nominations is thatgamecompany’s Journey, which is being recognized for its achievement in game direction, original soundtrack and Game of the Year, among other things. We firmly believe it deserves everything it’s up for, as Journey was one of our favorites from the past year. In the category of Game of the Year, Journey faces Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3, XCOM: Enemy Unknown and The Walking Dead. The competition is stiff this year.

Continuing to talk about titles with multiple nominations… The Walking Dead comes in second with eight; while Far Cry 3 has seven; Halo 4 with six; and Borderlands 2 and Dishonored share five a piece.

Here’s a taste of some of the awards and the nominees for each. You can find the full listing at the following link.
