We reach the eighth month of the year with a new gaming guide in tow. We’ve also changed the formatting yet again. But either way, we’re still here to tell you what games to look out for this month.
Madden NFL 11
System: Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP Wii, DS
Release: 8/10/2010
Much like clockwork, the yearly Madden is released every August. Therefore, it’s Madden season! This year there are a number of improvements being added to the franchise. For one, the new GameFlow system is suppose to cut game-time down by half because of it’s smart, on-the-fly play calling. There have also been improvements to the game’s physics, graphics, lightning and presentation. Also, if you win the Super Bowl you get to see your team take a trip to D.C. and meet President Obama! Madden NFL 11 actually looks to be a massive improvement over last year’s model. Let’s hope it delivers. But if it doesn’t, it’s still Madden. It will sell millions either way.
Monday Night Combat
System: Xbox Live Arcade
Release: 8/11/2010
Monday Night Combat (MNC) is a third-person area shooter with a touch of Team Fortress’ style. MNC is one Xbox Live Arcade’s “Summer of Arcade” titles and so far look pretty stellar. We dig the humorous and cartoony angle the game is going for, making Monday Night Combat an easy title to recommend trying out. When the game launches you’ll at least be able to download a free trail on Xbox Live Arcade. Might as well give it a shot, right?
Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days
System: Xbox 360, PS3, PC
Release: 8/17/2010
The first Kane & Lynch, not so good. This one, however, is looking pretty awesome (read our Kane & Lynch 2 preview). The game’s presentation gives it a really gritty, realistic quality that most game who claim to be “gritty and real” fail to deliver. Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days might be a hard sell to a lot of gamers, but we think it’s going to be a sleeper hit that washes the terrible taste of the first game right out of our mouths.
