Ringing in the new year with more video games

Happy new year everyone! I hope your holidays were kind to you and you got a lot of games. Games that you're going to have to hurry through because there are more great ones on the horizon. And while there aren't ten solid titles this month (thank god!), there are still a good seven worth the money you received from the holidays.

Darksiders
System: Xbox 360, PS3
Release Date: 1/5/2010

Tell me this setup doesn't sound cool: The first horseman of the Apocalypse, War, is deceived into prematurely bringing about the end of the world and for breaking the sacred law of igniting a war between Heaven and Hell, is stripped of his powers and banished back to Earth, left only to search for those responsible. Pretty cool right? Part God of War, part Legend of Zelda, Darksiders looks to be a great new IP to kick of the year that takes pieces from some of gaming's greatest franchises and mashes them together for one rip-roaring ride through Heaven, Hell, and everywhere in between.

Bayonetta
System: Xbox 360, PS3
Release Date: 1/5/2010

Personally, I didn't much care for Bayonetta when I get some super brief play-time with it. However, I'm not the majority here, critics and gamers have been going apeshit about this game for months now. And in it's defense, it does have some amazingly fluid action gameplay and an art design that is definitely stylistic and unique. If you fancy yourself a fan of games like God of War and Devil May Cry, then Bayonetta is a must play.
