By now you've probably seen the full length trailer for Rockstar's upcoming Red Dead Redemption. If you haven't, take the time to, it's amazing. But the one question mark that remained, even after watching that gloriously stylish trailer is how exactly would Red Dead Redemption play. Will it be an open-world, western version of Grand Theft Auto? Will it be a more linear, narrative focused experience like its predecessor, Red Dead Revolver? Or will Red Dead Redemption be a masterful fusion of both the former and the later? Thankfully, a recent trailer, entitled "Introduction," has given us the answer, and it's awesome. Check it out.
Not only can we look forward to an engrossing story about John Marston tracking down his former outlaw buddies, but we'll also have plenty to do in the wild west in the off chance we need to step away from the main revenge quest for a while. Here are some of the highlights featured in the trailer:
- Bear hunting
- 5 finger fillet mini-game (knife and fingers)
- Dog fighting, sans Michael Vick
- Train hopping
- Dragging bounties behind your horse
- watching fat hillbillies tumble down stairs
- PBR, western style
I don't know about you, but Red Dead Redemption has shot to the very top of my must own list for 2010, right next to Bioshock 2, God of War III and Mass Effect 2. It takes a lot of effort to get me interested in a western, but Rockstar is pushing all the right buttons with RDR. Red Dead Redemption already had the style, now Rockstar's proven it has the substance too boot.
