It's time to breathe a sigh of relief. The gaming industry has entered a lull month. December sees a couple of new releases that are worth checking out, but it's nowhere near the shit show we've witnessed over the last few months. That's why we are doing December's Gaming Guide a bit differently. Here you'll find five games releasing in December that we deem worthy of checking out, as well as a list of titles we think you should go back and pick up in the off chance you missed them the first go 'round. The last few months have been redunkulous for gaming, we even had a hard time keeping up, so odds are you had to choose wisely in what you invested in and missed a few titles you would have otherwise been interested in picking up. That's why we got your back. It's also Holiday season, so some of these titles would make perfect gifts for the gamers of your family. You can find the "In Case You Missed 'Um" section on page 4 of this guide, or with that handy link I just presented you.

On December 18th one of the most anticipated science fiction films of all time hits theaters. Avatar will be James Cameron's first directed feature since 1997's Titanic. And because of that, Avatar is a big deal. Therefore, there has to be a video game tie-in to accompany its release. And after listening to James Cameron speak for upwards of an hour at Ubisoft's 2009 E3 press conference, he would have us believe Avatar: The Game will be the second coming of Christ for video game-film adaptations. A true bridge of the mediums. However, we know better than to blindly trust anyone (Cameron included) who says a movie tie-in game will be good, let alone earth-shattering. But Cameron did direct Terminator 2, and is responsible for the line, "Game over, man, game over!" as poetically shouted by Bill Paxton in Aliens. So on those merits alone, we're willing to give Cameron the benefit of the doubt and give Avatar: The Game a shot.
