Three New, Exclusive Resident Evil Titles For The Wii?

By Jeremy Azevedo
Yesterday, Capcom announced a slew of new Resident Evil titles, all of which are set to appear exclusively on the Nintendo Wii.
The first and most exciting announcement is “The Darkside Chronicles”, a rail shooter and sequel to last year’s wildly successful “Umbrella Chronicles title. “The Darkside Chronicles’ centers upon the events of RE2, a series favorite, and stars RE veterans Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield. “The Darkside Chronicles” will feature a heavy emphasis on cooperative combat and will include new features, such as an evade system, to give the game a bit more depth than it’s predecessor. Imagine “Resident Evil 5” mashed with “House of the Dead” and you’re halfway there.

Next up are two Gamecube titles remade for the Wii’s unique control scheme, “Resident Evil 0” and the original Resident Evil remake. (A remake of a remake? Um… ok…) It’s kind of funny that the Wii is sort of turni g into a Gamecube emulator with motion controls, but at a price point of $29.99 I’d probably at least buy RE0 purely for nostalgia’s sake. Because I am a sucker.

Easily the two crappiest RE protagonists of all time, but still...

Speaking of suckers, Capcom also announced that they will be selling you a competitive game mode for Resident Evil 5 in a few weeks for five bucks. This shit is getting out of control, guys. You can’t charge $60 for a game and then turn around and ask for more money for costumes and game modes and other corny stuff that should have been in the game to begin with. As much as I love Capcom, I’m afraid I’m going to have to suggest that they eat all of the dicks for this one. Sorry guys.

Do want.

On a lighter note, one last bit of non-Resident Evil news from the Capcom camp involves an as-yet unnamed HD remix of another one of their classic titles for XBL and PSN. Rumor has it that Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is the popular choice to go under the knife for a little cosmetic surgery. If this actually happens, it’ll be just about the best anything, ever. (Although I’d also settle for an HD remake of Final Fight, Strider or Forgotten Worlds.)

What classic Capcom title would you like to see undergo the HD Remix treatment?
