This is how things work these days. Accordingly to a press released received this morning, Borderlands 2 will get four DLC add-on expansions after its release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on September 18. You’ll be able to buy them individually for $9.99/800 MS Points as they become available, or you can lock yourself in for all of them at a discounted price of $29.99/2400 Points with the Borderlands 2 Season Pass.
If you consider yourself a hardcore Borderlands fan, the Season Pass offering is a pretty solid deal. If you can’t handle the math, let me do it for you: you’ll save $10 total if you go all in for Borderlands 2’s DLC up front. As the DLC packs become available, you’ll be able to download them at no extra cost. All planned DLC packs should be available by June 2013, says Gearbox.
The “Season Pass” has become a widely popular form of DLC delivery for publishers. Used for everything from shooters to sports titles, Borderlands 2 just represents the latest title to jump on the bandwagon. Speaking of which, that wagon is getting pretty heavy, do you think it will ever collapse?
