This fall is not starting out so hot. There are really only a handful of games worth looking into this month. Last year it felt like there was a surplus of new titles to kick off the fall season. That’s unfortunately not the case this year. Here are the five titles we recommend you check out this month.
Mark of the Ninja
Platform: XBLA / Release Date: 9.7.2012

The makers of Shank return with a side-scrolling stealth title called Mark of the Ninja. We got a chance to play Mark of the Ninja back at PAX East and it was awesome. Klei is setting aside the bombastic action and gore of Shank to go with something a little more methodical and quiet. That said, Mark of the Ninja has a beautiful art style and some addictive gameplay, making it an easy recommendation.
NHL 13
Platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 / Release Date: 9.11.2012

EA Sports returns with the next iteration of their NHL series. This year brings new Hockey IQ, making skaters aware of everything happening on the ice, as well as making goalies a bit better at saves. In addition, True Performance Skating adds real physics to players’ skating patterns to make the game more lifelike. If you’re a hockey fan, you’re going to want to play attention to this game.
Borderlands 2
Platforms: Xbox 360, PS3, PC / Release Date: 9.18.2012

The sequel to Borderlands is finally upon us with more diverse environments, new characters, loads of new guns and 100% more wub wub. Additionally, Gearbox is promising a better story for this second outing. All in all, Borderlands 2 seems to be a superior sequel in every sense of the word.
Torchlight II
Platform: PC / Release Date: 9.20.2012

The original Torchlight was a surprise success. Developed by Runic Games and taking inspiration from Blizzard’s Diablo series, this action-RPG brings with it colorful characters and worlds. If you enjoy raiding dungeons with your buddies, then consider Torchlight II a must play. The game will release as a digital download on nearly every digital platform imaginable.
World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria
Platform: PC, Mac / Release Date: 9.25.2012

The latest expansion for World of Warcraft is unleashed upon us. Mists of Pandaria offers up a whole new continent, Pandaria, as well as a new race and class, “Pandaren” and “Monk,” respectively. Mists of Pandaria brings far more additions as well, making it another solid expansion to a game that’s been on the shelves since 2004.
