Bio

Allison Baver was born in Reading, Pennsylvania on August 11, 1980. As a child, she was already very athletic, and took to sports such as soccer and even cheerleading during her teenage years attending Wilson High School. In fact, it wasn't until her junior year that she took up speedskating as her primary sport of choice. This was unsurprising, however, as she had been participating in the National Roller Skating Championships in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania since she was 11 years old.

Of course, Allison's pursuit of a speedskating career never got in the way of her education. Although she would eventually go on to be known as one of America's best female short-track skaters by 2002, this didn't stop her from being accepted to and graduating from Penn State University by 2003. And she wasn't even done yet. She then went on to earned an MBA in online business through Ellis College at the New York Institute of Technology.

Back to her professional career, as mentioned, Allison is considered among the world's best female short track speedskaters, and that didn't happen overnight. After qualifying as an alternate for the U.S. short track speedskating squad in 2002, her 3000m relay team went on to place seventh during the Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games, although she did not get to participate. However, during the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy, Allison finally got her shot and helped her team finish fourth in the 3000m relay. Individually,  she also placed seventh in the women's 500m event. The next year, Allison became the U.S. short track champion, paving the way for her participation in the 2010 Winter Olympics, where her 3000m relay team wound up winning the bronze medal.
