Elena Hight made it to the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympic Games, and both times she placed sixth. In 2012-13, she made history at the X Games Aspen with her double-backside alley-oop rodeo in a halfpipe. (Only two other snowboarders, Shaun White and Danny Davis have landed the same trick, but not in competition.) She earned a silver medal and later earned another silver at X Games Tignes.
Elena Hight said, “At the end of the day, I snowboard for me and the joy and the passion that I get out of it. What I think the judges want is definitely coming secondary to what I want to get out of snowboarding.”
Elena Hight added, “My outlook on snowboarding has always been about pushing my own limits and trying to see what’s possible for me. Taking those steps to try new tricks and do things that have never been done is where I get the fun from snowboarding.”
Aside from snowboarding, she is into healthy living, and surfing and cooking are her passions. Elena Hight sometimes wears a Drusy quart crystal, which is thought to dissipate negative thoughts and emotions. She also wears a ring that says “Carpe Diem” that means ‘seize the day.’ She said, “It’s one of the quotes I live by.”
In 2013, she gained her Associates Business degree from the University of Phoenix.
Elena Hight resides in South Lake Tahoe and is currently single.
