Emily Deschanel is an American actress. She is known best as her Dr. Temperance Brennan character from the FOX series "Bones."
Emily Erin Deschanel was born on October 11, 1976 in Los Angeles, California to the legendary Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Caleb Deschanel and actress Mary Jo Deschanel. She is also the older sister to actress Zooey Deschanel. The two are each famous for television series on FOX, with Emily having starred on the series "Bones" and Zooey following her lead six years later with "New Girl."
While Emily certainly has no trouble getting in front of a camera since her first small role in the film "It Could Happen to You" in 1994, this wasn't always the case. In fact, growing up she was actually quite shy. Her father would constantly shot video of both her and her sister Zooey as they traveled all around the world to locations such as Italy, Canada, France, England, and South Africa, but only Zooey actually enjoyed it. Her big sister couldn't have hated it more.
Since eventually growing up and attending Harvard-Westlake and Crossroads School in Los Angeles before graduating to Boston University where she joined the Professional Actors Training Program and attained her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theater, Emily has had a very successful career in front of the lens. After landing roles in films such as "Cold Mountain," "Spider-Man 2," and "Boogeyman," she was cast in the role that she would eventually be known for most on "Bones." Not only that, but she would go on to star on the hit FOX series for over 10 years.
On September 25, 2010 Emily married her longtime boyfriend David Hornsby in a private ceremony with her sister filling the role of her maid of honor. David is known best as a writer and actor on the hit FXX series "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." The two have since gone on to have two children together.
