Hilary Rhoda is an American model probably best known for her appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She was born Hilary St. Claire.
Hilary Rhoda grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland and attended the Academy of the Holy Cross, an all-girls Catholic school. While a student, she played lacrosse and field hockey. She also danced ballet for 11 years, and was on her school’s swimming and diving teams. She always had dreams of becoming a model, even though she was a bit of a tomboy.
Though Hilary Rhoda was recruited by several colleges to play field hockey, she deferred her college acceptances “after a career in modeling began in her sophomore year” of high school.
She was discovered at a ProScout event in Washington, D.C. while still in high school, and modeled during her school breaks.

Once Hilary graduated from high school, she moved to New York City to pursue modeling fulltime. There was a caveat: her mother said if it didn’t work out after one year, it was a “reinstatement of the college acceptances.” Looking back on her choice, Hilary said, “It was a big risk, but I’m pretty happy with the way things have worked out.”
