Julie Strain

With over a 100 films to her credit, Julie Strain has been called Queen of the B Movies and was named #20 of Sci-Fi’s Sexy 50 by Femme Fatales magazine. Fans may recognize her from her work in “Space Girls in Beverly Hills” and “Heavy Metal 2000,” among other titles, as well as being a Vampirella body model. But she is probably still best known for being crowned Penthouse Pet of the Year 1993. Her measurements are 36-24-34.

When Julie Strain became the Penthouse Pet of the Year she was 32 years old. She said, “Being named Pet of the Year funded the beginning of my [acting] career. I showed the world my p*ssy and grew a set of balls.” She added, “I just had a one hundred percent commitment to success and no regard at all for the ‘rules’ of show business. I talked my way into auditions and took every role I was offered, working to develop my acting skills and a screen image that I hoped would appeal.”

She has been “merchandised on everything from a Zippo lighter to interactive CD-ROMS.”

Growing up, she saw herself as a painfully thin ugly duckling in high school. At 13, she was already six feet tall. “I was a wild kid. Always in trouble of one sort or another.” With the help of a boyfriend, she took up bodybuilding, even though the hobby was short-lived.

She lost most of the memories from her youth, however, after she fell off a horse and suffered a case of retrograde amnesia.

Later, her mom wanted her to become Miss America, “but that plan took a de-tour through being discovered in Vegas and then bumping into Penthouse photographer Suze Randall who seriously wanted me to pose for Penthouse. I told Suze, ‘If you give me a horse on a beach for my centerfold, I’m yours.’”

As for her nude shoots, Julie Strain said, “I’m not thinking sexual and I’m not thinking jerk-off material while I’m making it. I’m thinking like, the fans respect me so much they almost don’t jerk off to my pictures! That’s kind of how I see, like I’m their friend,” (mrskin.com).

In the same interview, she agreed she was providing a public service. “There are handicapped people or unattractive people who will never have the chance to be with a beautiful woman, why should they suffer and feel alienated…they can open up the pages and find out about that person’s life and get to see a body that God created that might be a little more special than someone else’s body.”

When she began her career as an actress, she found it hard to land roles because of her height – she was often taller than the male actors. In 1997, she published her autobiography, “Six Foot One and Worth the Climb.”

Her glamour role models are Marilyn Monroe and Bettie Page. “They had a face that told a story. I try to emulate them the best that I can.” As for her career, Julie Strain said, “You know, I’m just kind of hiding out in the business. I really don’t want to be a big star, I cant’ do the publicity that goes with those big movies. But finally, my acting is good.”

She was married to Kevin Eastman, the co-creator of the Teenager Mutant Ninja Turtles, but they have since divorced. Julie Strain currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
