Being that the Geneva Motor Show takes place in Switzerland, the convention is the ultimate venue to see a glimpse of the latest European designs, but audiences are also able to see some of the competitive models from the U.S. and Japan. However, the luxury European car makers do not disappoint, with Italian car makers Maserati, Ferrari, and Lamborghini showcasing their top-end designs tailored to all the wealthy car enthusiasts in attendance. Rightfully so, the media flocks to the super-cars and below are a few select press materials from some of the top European car manufacturers.

British car maker,
Bentley, is still going strong and has now released an updated Continental variation that is not only powerful, but also incorporates FlexFuel technology to address current environmental concerns. The Bentley Continental Supersport is a clever reinvention of their popular luxury model and was praised with high regards in their press conference, as seen below.

Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S ©Maserati also held a press conference to debut both the Granturismo S auto and the Quattroporte Sport GT S, continuing their reemergence as one of the more valuable car manufactures of 2008, a triumph in market share, especially when compared to their position earlier in the decade. Common with other manufacturers at the show, Maserati has refined their core models to become even more efficient and enjoyable to drive. See the video for details on both new models.
Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce ©Lamborghini once again caters to the high-end performance market at this year's motor show, with the debut of the Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce. For those wealthy enough to opt for something a little bit beefier than the standard Murciélago, the SuperVeloce adds even more luxury specifications tailored for high-speed racing. The Italian car maker also brought along their Estoque concept vehicle, which looks like Kitt from
Knight Rider, mixed with some aesthetic details reminiscent of Maserati. Below is the video of Lamborghini's press conference, where we see the introduction of the Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce.
With American car companies begging for more federal bail-out money, it is reasonable to suspect that GM would only make a conservative effort at this year's Geneva Motor Show, but there were several surprisingly well-designed models available from the automotive underdog. GM has taken a great leap forward with the Chevy Volt and various Opel models, all of which appeal to the gas conscious, European design tastes.
Also, the "Governator", Arnold Schwarzenegger makes a surprise appearance. Representing California, which as far as car markets are concerned, offers a unique market that incorporates various components of U.S., Japanese, and European car designs, a seemingly appropriate fir for the Geneva Motor Show.
Opel Insignia ©Not to miss an opportunity to salvage their shrinking market-share, General Motors delivered a variety of their European models, including some excellent models from Opel that some urban-dwelling Americans would love to see imported to the States. Of course, there are the flagship models, such as the Cadillac Escalade that stand out in Geneva as one of the few luxurious, large SUVs to carve a niche amongst those with the need for brute power. See GM's offerings at Geneva below:
