Cast Away
Chuck Nolan (Tom Hanks) is the only survivor of an oceanic plane crash, washed ashore on a small island far off his travel route. Centering on Nolan's quest for survival, from gathering food and water to the mental challenges of living alone for years (a stained volleyball becomes his anchor for sanity), the film is a classic depiction of a scenario every one of us has daydreamed about: what would you do if you were the only inhabitant on a tropical desert island? After doing little more than surviving for more than four years, Chuck eventually builds a raft with plastic debris, palm trees, video tape (acting as rope to hold it together) and the side of a porta-potty, eventually escaping the island and getting rescued by a passing ship - but his struggles are only beginning.
Turistas
A group of American travelers are stranded in a remote beach town in Brazil after their bus crashes down a hillside, and a struggle for survival ensues as the travelers are hunted for their organs. By choosing to stick around and enjoy the beautiful local scenery rather than wait for the next bus, Alex (Josh Duhamel), his sister Bea (Olivia Wilde) and her best friend Amy (Beau Garrett) unwittingly subscribe to their very own tropical nightmare - one from which they may never escape.
