Jenna Jameson looked downright wholesome in person. Even with all the tattoos, the sharply constructed features and pointed makeup, all you can see are her eyeglasses and a green patterned sundress. She even makes talking about porn sound intellectual (which it is, of course.) She's just made her first Hollywood movie, Zombie Strippers, which is way too complex to describe in a single logline.

CraveOnline: What made Zombie Strippers the right choice for your first Hollywood film?

Jenna Jameson: Well, first of all, I am a huge horror movie fan. Always have been. I used to sneak out of my bedroom at night and go turn on HBO. My favorite movie was John Carpenter's The Thing because I loved the fact that it made it so I couldn't sleep. It freaked me out so bad that I couldn't sleep and I loved that adrenaline rush. Obviously, I'm a porn star, so I have a thing with adrenaline, obviously. So yeah, horror movies always kind of made me have that weird yummy sexual feeling.

CraveOnline: Before you even knew it was sexual.

Jenna Jameson: Exactly. That's exactly right. I had no idea it was sexual but it's just this weird, indescribable feeling that I get from horror movies. So when they put this script in front of me, I was like, "This title is brilliant. Zombie Strippers, of course everybody's going to love this movie, especially if you're male." But once I started reading the script, I was like, "Wow, this is so telltale of what my life has been, been fighting against the establishment, being a rebel, never letting anybody tell me who I should and shouldn't be." So I loved the fact that it had so many political undertones. It's not really what you would expect with a campy, dark movie like this, so it was exciting to even be a part of it.

CraveOnline: So how does Zombie Strippers compare to the horror movies you grew up on?

Jenna Jameson: If I watch a horror movie, I don't want to have the whole build-up, like the Alien sort of movie which is great, but I just want it to get to the part where they rip the heads off. Rip the heads off! So when I read the script, I was like, "Okay, if they can pull off this stuff, this is going to be the end all. This is going to be the best horror movie ever made." Once I saw the final, I was like, "Holy sh*t, they pulled it off." The one where she rips the guy's head in half? Dude.

CraveOnline: How important was the political stuff to you?

Jenna Jameson: It was really important because my whole entire career has been based upon kind of taking cover from the establishment. When Bush came into office, I had just started Club Jenna. I was producing my own movies which was a big departure for women in my industry. No women really did what I did, so all of a sudden, I had this glaring spotlight on me from the right wing psychos saying, "You're going to go to jail. This is obscenity." And I'm like, "Well, hold on a second. What do you mean? This is art. Are you kidding me?" So yeah, I really spent a good portion of my career worried about whether or not I was going to go to jail.

CraveOnline: If we're against the government intrusion into strip clubs and lap dances, what can we do to help the cause?

Jenna Jameson: Support your local stripper. No, I think that really it's about living free. Whenever there's something that bothers you, when it comes to what's going on in your community or what's going on in your government, you need to do something about it. Don’t just sit there and frickin' complain about it. Go out and do something about it because it makes a difference. I bought a strip club in Scottsdale and it's called Babes. It's been there for 30 years. When I bought it, the mayor of Scottsdale tried to close me down. This had been there for 30 years. Just the fact that I bought it made her want to close it down because she thought that I was going to be bringing drugs and prostitution. This is what people think of my industry, people that aren't in the know. It's kind of embarrassing that people can have such lack of knowledge. So I went and I fought city council and I won and she ended up stepping down. She's no longer mayor which is amazing. It just goes to show that one person can make a difference when it comes to those kind of things. So vote.

CraveOnline: Did you have to familiarize yourself with the philosophy cited in the film?

Jenna Jameson: Like Nietzsche? Yeah, I thought that it would be important. I kind of fancy myself a smart chick, so I went into it thinking I'm well versed, I know what I'm talking about. Then he's like, "Yeah, you're going to be reading Nietzsche in the opening scene" and I'm like, "Who?" So yeah, I tried to do a little bit of studying when it came to getting ready for my character.

CraveOnline: How do you think the film portrayed stripping?

Jenna Jameson: There is an art form to stripping. It's funny because I was just talking to a friend of mine and I was thinking that I want to start doing a women's retreat to where I teach them how to really be self aware and feel great about themselves and sexy and own their space. I think that one of the things will be pole dancing for sure because it is the best exercise on the planet. It's very powerful.

Crave Online: How much harder was it to dance with zombie makeup on?

Jenna Jameson: That was brutal. 6-8 hours in the makeup chair. For my end fight scene where I get my legs and arms ripped off – it's so funny. Yeah, when I get my legs and arms ripped off, I had to have an exoskeleton put onto my body and I had to stand on weird bars that propped me up and the skeleton dangled underneath me. It was crazy. There was a lot put into this movie so I didn't really know what I was getting into when I signed up. Halfway through it I was like, "Oh my God." Two hours a night trying to get all the blood off. That stuff stains your skin and your hair. I was pink for like a month afterward.

Crave Online: How much of your success in the adult industry is because of your looks, as opposed to the other qualities you have?

Jenna Jameson: It's the full package. You have to have a whole thing, even though I had my breast implants removed last year. That was partially because I didn't feel comfortable with them but also it was kind of rite of passage for me. Retiring, I felt like it was something that kind of held me back as a woman. I didn't feel as real as I do now, so yeah, there is an image that you build as a porn star. You have to be a certain way, you have to look a certain way. It's nice to make a departure from that now.

CraveOnline: Has porn become more mainstream than even horror?

Jenna Jameson: It's kind of crazy, right? Nowadays, a lot of B list, C list actresses have to become semi-porn stars in order to become popular. Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, should I go on? There's a lot of them. There's a lot, a lot of them. Who was the little girl that's on The Hills that just released the nude pictures? Adrena.

CraveOnline: They haven't honed their craft like you though.

Jenna Jameson: They need to start polishing up their game. After watching that Kim Kardashian movie, I mean, come on. Come on, girl.

CraveOnline: How do you get your body ready for the beach this summer?

Jenna Jameson: Awww. Oh gosh, now that I'm with Tito [Ortiz], my whole life, a lot of it is based around being athletic. We work out together and I bust my ass in the gym. Not because I want to be thin or paparazzi ready. I do it now because it's health. I went through a cancer scare about three years ago and I beat it. Ever since then, I really focus myself down on being healthy and feeling good. Now I just have a lot more time on my hands so I can work out. I think a lot of women out there don't really have that. They have kids, they have husbands, they have jobs. We can't expect everybody to look like a supermodel, so I'm just lucky because it's my job.

CraveOnline: I loved the scene in Dreamquest where you're wearing glasses, so I'm glad to see you wear glasses for real.

Jenna Jameson: I love glasses. I think they're so sexy.

CraveOnline: Like in the '80s movies, when they made over the "nerd" and took off the glasses and pony tail, I was like, "No, she looked better before."

Jenna Jameson: Yeah, don’t take that out. We like that. Natural stuff is fun.

CraveOnline: What about your comic books?

Jenna Jameson: Amazing artwork, right? Yeah, I have spent months working with artists in order to get all of this stuff. Isn't it beautiful? They worked really hard on this.
