Signature UFC announcer with his own poker lounge wins big in Los Angeles.

Bruce Buffer Wins Larry Flynts Grand Slam of Poker

Bruce Buffer may be best known for being the signature voice behind “We are LIVE!” and “It is TIME!” in the UFC, but with his own gambling lounge and a new tournament win he’s quickly earning a reputation as a poker mogul.

Earlier this month, Buffer took the ambitious step of opening the Bruce Buffer High-Stakes poker lounge at the Luxor Casino in Las Vegas. Themed with Bruce Buffer’s official logo, the room has been designated to host several special UFC events, from high-stakes tournaments to UFC fighter autograph signings.

Furthering his domination of the game, Buffer took home first place and $75,000 on Tuesday in the main event of Larry Flynt’s Grand Slam of Poker at the Hustler Casino in Los Angeles, CA.

Buffer, a semi-professional poker player, tweeted the news to his fans early Tuesday morning:

A Vegas poker regular, Buffer’s no stranger to success at the tables. He entered the prestigious 2010 World Series of Poker and finished in the money at the main event.

“I’ve been a poker player all my life," Buffer explained in a recent interview. "My dad taught me how to play poker when I was 8 years old, he taught me blackjack, he taught me horseracing. He said ‘the only way to follow a horse is with a shovel’ so I concentrated on blackjack and poker.”

Buffer continued, “My first cash game was when I was 14, my brother Brian and I would play caddies at a local golf club and we actually made some good money, my brother went to Europe with his winnings and that told me there was a way to make a living playing poker, so I always played poker.”
