A Linux gaming console?

The Evo Smart has it all.

This may turn out to be the strangest gadget you've ever heard yet, but the Evo Smart Console plans to offer 'cloud computing' as well as being a gaming console...and it runs of Linux.

No, I'm not trying to be mean, but when's the last time you heard of a blockbuster game that runs on THAT operating system? Well, the 'cloud computing' part is all about stuff like a 28-channel streaming Internet TV, PitchBuzz social network and other such aspects (Xbox Live anyone?). As for the 'gaming' the company offers a laughable subscription for Amiga-based games as well as support for developers to work on games on the open source Crystal Space Engine 3D. Expect to see such games as...World of Padma, Tremelous and Alien Arena. I swear I'm not making this up.

The box will ship with a quad core Athlon 64 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a laughable Radeon 3200HD. Any other gaming console out there will run circles around this. The Evo will launch sometime next month for a low price of $250 (perhaps you can cannibalize it for parts for your computer) but I don't think it will be attracting much attention outside the Linux world.
