The new unveiling of Apple's update to the classic iPod Nano and iPod Touch is not something to shout at, but it does have some new features and the design update brings new life to a product that isn't exactly old.
First up the Nano has reverted back to the slim and long profile, with anincreased screen size as well as tapered edges to make the player a joy to hold. It certainly feels a lot better than the fatman design previously which drew a lot of consumer hate and not to mention the fact that it makes using the jog wheel a little bit difficult. Nonetheless, Apple has finally listened to it's customers and given them what they wanted.
As for the Touch, it also sports the new tapered design with the same shiny backplate that smudges easily so you should probably get some screen protectors if you want to keep the back looking clean and sexy-like. Other than that, it's pretty much identical to it's predecessors.
Besides the design revision, the software update is the thing that makes the new players shine. New features include the Genius Playlist, which learns your musical moods and generates playlists for you on the go and the included Nike receiver is a great addition for those who needs it. The battery life is also improved thanks to hardware changes that optimize battery use.
Overall, it's another year, another update. Textbook.
