As part of MTV’s year long ‘Break the Addiction’ campaign for Empowering Youth To Curb Climate Change, the hit show ‘Pimp My Ride’ will be airing a special episode concerning environmental protection. In conjunction with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, the team from Galpin Auto Sports (G.A.S.) will be ‘pimping’ out a 65’ Chevy Impala with a new 800 horsepower diesel engine that will run on biodiesel. The fans will get to watch as host, rapper Xzibit surprises a kid named Kristoffer from North Hollywood, Ca. The governor will be on hand to oversee the final stages of the project.

The episode is geared toward helping kids feel empowered and engaged, hoping to educate them to make smart choices that improve their lives and help curb the impacts of climate change and to preserve the environment. The Governor also expressed his gratitude for the project, “I would like to thank MTV and the entire ‘Pimp My Ride’ crew for shining the spotlight on the importance of alternative fuels and the fight against global warming. I am very encouraged by the great potential in converting vehicles to run on biodiesel as a way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.” He followed up by saying, “I am pleased that the power of MTV’s message will reach an audience throughout California and the nation to reinforce the benefits of alternative-fuel vehicles and protecting our environment.”

The episode is set to air on MTV April 22nd at 1pm ET/PT and will also air on MTV 2 and MTV Tr3s, the show will appear as the kick-off of a Sneak Peek marathon featuring all new episodes. The President of MTV, Christina Norman also commented on the show’s importance by saying, “What better way to celebrate the anniversary of our Break the Addiction campaign than [by] pimping the environment with a pro like Governor Schwarzenegger – a powerful voice in the fight against climate change.” She closed with the comment, “During the past year, we’ve reached millions, giving our audience the tools they want to make changes in their own lives. The state of our environment is one of the most critical issues facing our audience today an we’re honored that we can inspire and educate even more as we celebrate Earth Day with this special ‘Pimp My Ride’ event.”

In the midst of all this is Galpin Motors who have been industry leaders in clean running engines since the 1979 when they started converting fleets of gasoline engines to run on methanol. They also opened the first methanol service station. Not to mention that but they also were the first dealers to sell Ford flexible fuel vehicles, as well as other electric vehicles, that came with an onsite charging station. General Motors also gets involved by donating a Duramax diesel engine which is featured in the latest Chevy and GMC trucks, and one of the cleanest diesel engines ever produced. Imperium Renewables will also be providing a year supply of biodiesel fuel for the Impala. For more info check think.mtv.com.
