The Montreal Science Centre will be overcome with geeks and sci-fi lovers when the Star Wars exhibit makes its world premiere there next April.
The three collaborators on the exhibit include Lucasfilm, the Montreal Science Centre, and the Montreal company X3 Productions, and it’s the second time they are all working together – Indiana Jones and the Adventure of Archaeology had its world premiere at the Science Centre in April. The Star Wars exhibit will have three main zones: the origins of the movies' characters, the influences that help shape them, and the choices that they made in life.
"That quest for a sense of self is at the heart of the exhibit," Lucasfilm exhibit manager Kyra Bowling said to The Gazette. "The biology and genetics, the nurture and cultural influences, it all affects who we are. But, in the end, no matter what hand you are dealt, who you are is shaped by the choices you make." Montreal Science Centre director Claude Benoit added, "There is a cross-generational appeal to this project. We hope to draw in people who wouldn't normally come to a science centre. Through this grand (Star Wars) saga, we take a scientific look at how we became who we are.”
After making its Montreal stop, the exhibit will then travel to 12 other cities in North America.
The exhibit officially opens on April 19, 2012. Tickets for the event are now on sale – call 514-496-4724 or 877-496-4724, or go to www.montrealsciencecentre. com or www.starwarsidentities.com for more info.
