The 2013 Hurst Redline V6 Camaro

The engineering firms specializing in fine-tuning performance cars often become as popular as the automakers building the original models.

For example, AMG is synonymous with the finest Mercedes Benz machines, while Shelby and Roush are honored alongside the For Mustangs they perfect. Now, Hurst Performance Vehicles is moving into that same realm with its work upgrading GM power machines like the Camaro.

Now, Hurst teamed with BFGoodrich Tires to introduce the Hurst Redline V6 Camaro Series Sport Special Edition equipped with special edition 245/55R18 BFGoodrich Redline Radial T/A tires, Flowmaster exhaust and Vision Legend Wheels.

Originally introduced as a limited-edition prototype vehicle at the NSRA Nationals in 2010, the Hurst Redline V6 Camaro Series will soon be available to consumers. Known for its highly collectible, limited-edition muscle cars, Hurst announced plans recently to manufacture the new vehicle in partnership with builder and fabricator Pratt & Miller Engineering.

The Hurst Redline V6 Camaro Series will hit outlets as a convertible or coupe, featuring a retro look with the capabilities of a modern performance vehicle. Exterior upgrades include a combination of graphics and aerodynamic enhancements including specially designed, five-spoke Hurst Vision Legend alloy wheels.

Chris Phillips, CEO of Hurst Performance Vehicles, said buyer demand played a huge part in the company’s decision to  produce the new Camaro.

“The Hurst Redline V6 Camaro received a tremendous amount of positive feedback when we launched it at NSRA Nationals in 2010, so we thought it would be even cooler if we made it available to consumers,” Phillips said. “The sound, look, feel and engineering excellence of these cars are just what consumers expect from a Hurst-engineered vehicle.”

Additional upgrades for the Hurst Redline include a Hurst HARD-Drive “Pistol Grip” shifter and Hurst-embroidered head rests and floor mats.

Before you balk at the idea of specially tuned, limited edition performance car rolling up with just a V6, keep in mind that Hurst also upgrades and adjusts the engine to increase horsepower and torque. You’re not likely to get a better drive and a harder run out of any domestic V6 engine – especially when you consider AMG, Shelby and their ilk stay exclusively in the realm of V8 and V10 power plants.

This whole Hurst Redline package is put to the ground through a Detroit Speed Fifth-Generation F-Body suspension kit, including a larger-diameter front and rear anti-roll bar packaged with Detroit Tuned lowering springs with increased spring rate. Special BFGoodrich Radial T/A Redline Edition rubber was designed for exceptional grip on the pavement.

As Hurst’s own description puts it, “The Flowmaster’s legendary cat-back exhaust gives these vehicles the sound that only a Flowmaster-and-Hurst combination can produce.”

The Hurst Redline V6 Camaro Series will be available at any of Feldman Automotive Group’s  greater Detroit metro-area dealerships. Of course, most of our car readers here live outside the Detroit area, so you can get your Hurst Redline online at www.feldmanauto.com.
