…even though our producer has gnawing suspicions about exactly who or what is ultimately delivering that message.

My name is Alicia Marie (AKA ‘The Cardio Girl’).

I have been writing about fitness and nutrition for as long as I can remember.

As for Todd Roy? Well, he’s been a television producer for just as long.

What is ‘CARDIO’?
‘Cardio’ is the ‘affectionate’ nickname for ‘cardiovascular exercise’ – or any exercise that is done specifically to raise your heart rate and to make you sweat. The main purpose of ‘cardio’ is to burn off excess calories/fat (even though it plays a larger role in other body processes as well!).

Think: running, stair-climbing, biking, dancing, fitness classes to loud music and crowded machines at the gym.

CARDIO is best utilized when combined with a well-rounded resistance training or weight-lifting routine/ exercises and proper diet. Cardio burns the fat – while weight-lifting exercises tone up and build the muscle you need to get ‘tight.’ Nutrition’s role is to support that muscle growth and tone.
