Whereas Ricky Gervais' brand of faux-ironic smugness has gotten a little tiring, Karl Pilkington's enduring ambivalence remains just as funny as it was back in the days of Gervais and Steven Merchant's XFM Radio show, where the "little round-headed twat", as Ricky often affectionately refers to him as, would chime in with his nonsensical and unwittingly offensive opinions.
As the three-part An Idiot Abroad Christmas special has now reached its conclusion here in the UK, I thought it would be a good time to recount some of the shining moments in Karl's career (if you can call it that).
Here are Karl Pilkington's funniest moments.
In theory, Bullshit Man is an excellent idea for a superhero. I mean, just imagine how much shorter meetings would be with him around. However, having an omnipresent human lie detector flying around would also have its negatives, mainly that you'd never be able to call in sick to work again and you'd probably never be able to hold a relationship down under his watch. Bullshit Man is the hero we deserve, but not the one we need right now.
Karl's Last Day on Earth
It's supposedly the Mayan apocalypse tomorrow, so if you're an aquatic bird, you should probably keep a lookout for a bald Mancunian.
Karl Meets Bollywood
Granted being choreographed by a former Ewok doesn't exactly classify as professional dancing advice, but even when taking that into consideration Karl's dance moves still leave something to be desired.
Karl's Awkward Arm Wrestling Contest
As with most of Karl Pilkington's best moments, it's not entirely clear whether we should actually be laughing at this.
Karl's Prostate Exam
Initially, watching Karl suffer through a medical professional shoving his fingers up his anus is funny, but then you realise that one day YOU will be the one lying on that table with a stranger's index finger stroking your lung.
