Hyundai parked itself on the floor of the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show to introduce new applications on its in-vehicle telematics platform (Blue Link).
Three new faces are on Hyundai's scene. Google Maps API now incorporates Point of Interest Search and Local Search by voice. Hyundai Blue Link currently offers some GPS or satelite navigation capavility. But, drivers can now find points of interest and get to destinations using Google’s continuously updated Places database.
Eyes Free mode uses the vehicle's infotainment system and a compatible iPhone running iOS 6 to direct Siri to perform tasks so eyes and attention can stay on the road. The Siri capabiliy also conducts all voice functions while keeping the device’s screen from lighting up.
Dragon Drive is an automotive-grade voice services platform for the connected car that enables drivers to speak naturally and conversationally with in-car systems. Drivers can dictate messages, search for their favorite music, find weather and ask directions to a POI in the cloud.
All of this will be available in the coming year.
