It's shaping up to be a big year for Porsche in 2013 – on the heels of a pretty good 2012.
Last year, Porsche debuted one of the best redesigns in automotive industry history — the 2013 Boxter S. Not only did the car become a true Porsche, but the Boxter S was identified as "car of the year" across many automotive news services.
At the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, the German automaker intro'd the 2014 Cayman to rave reviews. The new Cayman is lighter, faster, more fuel efficient and powerful than previous models. A longer wheelbase, wider track and bigger wheels improve the handling of the mid-engine sports car.
The 2014 Cayman is powered by a 2.7-liter engine with 275 hp, while the Cayman S produces 325 hp with a 3.4-liter engine. Both models will arrive in dealerships in spring 2013 at a base price of $52,600 for the Cayman and $63,800 for the Cayman S.
This week, at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Porsche debuted its now SUV, the 550 hp Cayenne Turbo S. The 4.8-liter twin-turbocharged Cayenne Turbo S adds 50 horsepower over the previous Cayenne Turbo.
The Cayenne Turbo S runs zero to 60 in 4.3 seconds with a top track speed of 175 mph. Think about that. That's from an SUV. Since it's a pretty large vehicle moving that fast, it's with the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and the Sport Chrono package.
All of that cargo space, comfort, size and speed will come with a price tag of $146,000.
