Carmen Electra reunited with her Meet the Spartans costar Method Man for a Las Vegas concert. On May 10, the duo introduced POD at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Afterwards, with music still blaring poolside, she spoke about the upcoming DVD and Blu Ray release of Meet the Spartans on June 3. The first thing on her mind were the fading henna tattoos on her palms.
Crave Online: Isn’t the soft part of the hand a weird place for any tattoo?
Carmen Electra: I don’t know, it is unusual butI like the idea of having the inside of your palms tattooed. I don’t know why. It just feels vulnerable. It was cool. I wanted to keep it but it’s fading.
Crave Online: How did you enjoy the concert?
Carmen Electra: It was cool. I mean, it all happened so fast and it’s still going off out there. The pool is jumping. So it’s awesome and I always love seeing Meth. I’m a huge fan. We worked together on the show. It’s cool to get a chance to introduce POD with him.
Crave Online: When you watched 300, did you ever think you’d be playing that queen?
Carmen Electra: No, I never ever thought so but you know, somehow the guys keep coming up with different ideas to spoof on. I’m really grateful they thought of me and it was fun. It was fun to watch the footage. I think that they did such a great job at making the movie really look like 300. So many images really look like the movie so I thought that was cool.
Crave Online: When you saw the original, did you think, "Why is she listening to that lying A-hole?"
Carmen Electra: You know, I paid more attention to the movie after I was cast. I think I watched it maybe on a flight somewhere and didn’t really pay attention to it. I obviously knew about the movie and thought it was really shot in an interesting way, very dramatic but when I read the script, I went immediately and rented the DVD and watched it and thought, "Okay, this is going to be fun. I get to be the only girl with all these shirtless hot guys." So it’s cool.
Crave Online: Why do women love abs?
Carmen Electra: I don’t know. I’m not really big on the abs. It’s not necessary. I don’t really know if women feel like it’s necessary for a guy to have abs.
Crave Online: It was a big appeal of 300.
Carmen Electra: Here, it really is. I mean, the guys were getting airbrushed and they had trainers and they were eating carrot sticks and counting calories. It was really funny. I got to kick back and eat pizza and watch them sort of be the girls.
Crave Online: When you’re introduced and do the sexy dance, were those your own moves?
Carmen Electra: Those are my moves. There was no choreographer. It was all improvised and very spontaneous. It was fun. I get to do that a lot and I enjoy it.
Crave Online: Do husbands around the world thank you for your stripper exercise videos?
Carmen Electra: They do and it’s really cool. It’s great that I’ve been able to connect with guys in that way and actually connect with women.
Crave Online: I meant they thank you for teaching their wives how to do it.
Carmen Electra: But a lot of girls say they really like to do the workout. Other women have said they’ve had girl parties where they do the workout and so it’s really cool.
Crave Online: You’re also in the new Leisure Suit Larry game?
Carmen Electra: I am. Is that out?
Crave Online: I don’t know but I saw you’re in it.
Carmen Electra: I went in and did a day of voiceover work and it was interesting. I mean, I’ve been able to do that a lot and I like it. It doesn’t really matter how you look. You can go in and just record voiceover work. We actually were in a video game together as well and was able to be on The Simpsons. I played myself on The Simpsons and that was really cool. King of the Hill, so I like doing voiceover work.
Crave Online: The old LSL games are classic, where you have to type what you want him to do.
Carmen Electra: You still do that and it was really complicated because I had to read so many different one liners that were basically telling him what to do. So it was a little confusing. I just went page by page and got through it all.
Crave Online: Depending on what we do, you have to say something different?
Carmen Electra
: You choose which direction you’re going in or what you’re doing. I felt really bossy. I don’t know, the whole time, "Now you’re gonna take off your clothes." It was just a crazy thing and it went by so quick so it was cool.Crave Online: Is it a sexy, bossy character?
Carmen Electra: Definitely, yeah.
Crave Online: Is the next spoof Disaster Movie or is that a fakout?
Carmen Electra: That must be a fakeout. They do a lot of fakeouts and there’s never a running title from the beginning that is the actual title. You never know.
Crave Online: But you’ll still be spoofing something?
Carmen Electra: Yes. I start shooting in a few weeks so I’ll be in New Orleans with the guys again. That’ll be cool.
Crave Online: Congratulations on your recent engagement. Do you have big plans yet?
Carmen Electra: Nope. No plans. Just taking it slow. No rush. It’s funny, but literally the next day I was getting calls from everyone because they heard all these rumors and thought I’d already gotten married or I was getting married the next day or that I was doing another reality show or that I’m pregnant. The list of rumors just went on and on and on. I don’t know. I just want to take it slow. I’m not in any hurry to get married again. It could be 10 years. I’m going to enjoy it.
Crave Online: Well, you never know with celebrities.
Carmen Electra: That’s true, anything can happen with anybody. I think that when you’re a celebrity, it’s just a little bit more intense.
Crave Online: What made you feel you could take the leap again?
Carmen Electra: I mean, I really can’t say that I feel like I at this point can take the leap again to be honest with you. It’s such a big life changing experience. I don’t know, I feel like I just really want to take things slow and not really rush into marriage, just enjoy being engaged. I guess to me it would be more ideal to have a spiritual ceremony without paperwork and the whole [shebang], you know. So much more goes into I think a wedding than people realize unless they’ve been down that road. But it’s expensive and I don’t know. I should look into that more. I need to be open. I need to be open to it.
Crave Online: It gives me hope. I’m also divorced. Maybe I can find a Carmen Electra the next time.
Carmen Electra: Well, if you look at it, it doesn’t have to be a negative thing. It really doesn’t. Some people stay in situations that aren’t right for them and never get a chance to have all these different life experience. So it’s really I think as beautiful as the merging, I think separating is just as beautiful in a way.
Crave Online: What is the best part of being famous?
Carmen Electra: All the free stuff you get. That is the best.
Crave Online: Is it stuff you couldn’t afford yourself?
Carmen Electra: You can definitely treat yourself but I think all the free swag they send is just fun. It’s like Christmas every day, opening boxes and people are so kind and generous. I think it’s really cool.
Crave Online: So it’s not the thing, it’s the freeness?
Carmen Electra: I guess just many different levels.
Crave Online: The surprise maybe?
Carmen Electra
: It’s probably the surprise. I think it’s the surprise. It’s getting the box and not knowing what’s in it. The big box of cute little Juicy outfits, for the beach. It’s sweet. Or little dog outfits. You get the most random things. My poor dogs. I feel bad, I probably get the most little doggy things sent for free and then they suffer because they have to wear these horrible little T-shirts or these little dresses, these little doggy things that you know that they don’t want to wear.Crave Online: And now the doggy clothing companies know you use them, so they’ll send more.
Carmen Electra: Exactly.
