The eccentric group LMFAO have been selected as the co-hosts of the MuchMusic Video Music Awards, which take place in Toronto next month.
Known for such hits as "Party Rock Anthem" (the biggest selling digital single in Canadian history, said Dose.ca) and "I'm Sexy and I Know It," the electropop duo will also be performing on the awards show. "Canada is the first place LMFAO went No. 1, and now the first place we will host an award show," RedFoo, whose real name is Stefan Gordy, said in a release, as reported by the Canadian Press. "It's going to be a night you won't forget."
LMFAO hit the music scene back in 2009 with their "Party Rock" album, which was followed up this year with the release of their second studio album "Sorry for Party Rocking." The group is comprised of RedFoo and SkyBlu (Skyler Austen Gordy). Although "LMFAO" is most commonly an acronym for "Laughing My F*cking Ass Off," the group said that their name stands for "Loving My Friends and Others." They've been nominated and won a number of accolades including the 2012 Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Song of the Year, and they could be nominated for as many as a dozen Billboard Music Awards this year.
So far the only confirmed performer of the Awards, other than LMFAO, is the beautiful Katy Perry, who has also risen to musical fame in the past several months. Check out the MMVAs on June 17th on MuchMusic.
