Toronto mayor meets Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis

Stars of new flick "The Campaign" in town to promote movie.

It's not every day that A-list Hollywood stars show up in Toronto to promote a film and get the mayor on their side, but that's what happened on Monday when Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis came to TO to talk about their latest project "The Campaign" – and Toronto Mayor Rob Ford was on hand to offer some advice on campaigning.

“Gotta give magnets everywhere you go. Everyone you meet gets a business card," Ford said (as reported by The Globe and Mail). “Gotta knock on doors. Don’t stop meeting people, shaking hands. Just keep going hard. It’s very simple. Every person you meet, hand them a magnet and a business card – and return people’s phone calls. Customer service is number one. Just don't hit babies," Ford added, referencing a scene in the movie where one of the characters accidentally punches a baby.

“It’s exciting to be here representing Los Angeles, the home of the Stanley Cup,” Ferrell later joked after riding a Zamboni into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The two actors are taking part in an 11-city tour in promotion of the comedic movie, which is about two people running for office. It was their only stop north of the border – Ferrell and Galifianakis also stopped by the MuchMusic studios before they attended a screening of the flick at the Scotiabank Theatre. They will finish up the tour in Washington, D.C. this week.

"The Campaign" opens in theatres across the country on August 10th.
