“Bomb Girls” starts production on season 2

Popular Global show is still ticking.

Twelve more episodes of the drama "Bomb Girls" is currently being worked on, Shaw Media announced recently. While an air date for season 2 has not yet been disclosed, "Bomb Girls" was the #1 new Canadian TV series last season.

The show, which is about women at work in a munitions factory during World War II, is produced by Shaw in conjunction with Muse Entertainment and Back Alley Film Productions Limited. It stars Meg Tilly ("Caprica," "Winnetka Road"), Jodi Balfour ("Final Destination 5," "Sanctuary"), Charlotte Hegele ("Murdoch Mysteries," "XIII: The Series"), and Ali Liebert ("Health Nutz," "The True Heroines").

This season, Toronto actor Michael Seater joins the cast – he's best known for his work on "18 to Life" and "Life with Derek." Seater will play Ivan, a gregarious factory worker and object of interest of the girls working the assembly line at Victory Munitions. The storyline takes us back to 1942 where the war is in full swing, and it seems the Axis forces are winning every battle. With the demand from the Allies increased due to bombed-out factories abroad, folks at Victory Munitions are busier than ever – both inside the plant and out of it.

As the official website for the show points out, when your overseas lover could be shot dead tomorrow, when the materials you work with could explode in your face today, when you're not sure if the free world will even be standing next month… you play your cards how you want – and you don't play by the old rules.
