Taylor Swift to attend the CCMAs

Country songstress will also receive an inaugural award.

American country darling Taylor Swift will not only attend this year's Canadian Country Music Association awards in Saskatoon but she'll also receive the inaugural CCMA Generation prize.

"With her increased and continual success on the international scene, Taylor Swift embodies every aspect of the CCMA Generation Award," said Ted Ellis, Chair of CCMA Board of Directors, in an official press release yesterday. "Since 2010, she has not only become the biggest selling country artist in Canada, she is also one of the top selling artists in the world, across all genres. Taylor has already been recognized with over 100 prestigious international industry honours (including three previous CCMA awards for Top Selling Album) and she maintains a connection with her 200 million fans online daily. We look forward to this presentation during the 2012 CCMA Awards broadcast."

Taylor Swift's highly anticipated fourth studio album, "Red," will hit store shelves across the globe on October 22nd. The 22 year-old is a six-time Grammy winner as well as the youngest winner in history of the music industry's highest honour, the Grammy Award for Album of the Year (for "Fearless," released in 2008). Her 2010 album "Speak Now" was touted as one of "Rolling Stone's" prestigious The 50 Greatest Albums of All Time (by women) list, and "Time" magazine named Taylor one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Performers of this year's CCMAs, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, will include Gord Bamford, Jason Blaine, Paul Brandt, Dean Brody, Chad Brownlee, George Canyon, Terri Clark, Doc Walker, Emerson Drive, Kira Isabella, Deric Ruttan, Johnny Reid, Dallas Smith, The Stellas, High Valley, Jason Aldean, Pistol Annies, Eric Church, and Miranda Lambert.

The 2012 CCMA Awards will be broadcasted live across Canada on Sunday, September 9th at 8pm on CBC, with encore airings on CMT (Canada) starting at 10pm eastern.
