Canada’s Top 10 Most-Viewed On YouTube

These were the most watched YouTube vids.

Approaching one billion hits and becoming the most popular YouTube video of all time, it's no surprise that Psy's Gangnam Style tops Canada's top 10 list of the most-viewed clips on YouTube.

CBC News compiled a list of the biggest videos on YouTube this year, and the breakdown goes like this:

1- Psy, Gangnam Style

Riding his imaginary horse, people the world over caught on to this (er, strange) dance craze.

2- Somebody That I Used to Know, Walk Off The Earth Gotye cover

Walk Off The Earth from Burlington, Ontario became a household name when their cover of the Gotye song "Somebody That I Used To Know" got more hits than Goyte himself.

3- Kony 2012

Canadians have a soft spot for social change, which is why this clip, created by Invisible Children, Inc, was used to bring to light Ugandan cult leader and war criminal Joseph Kony in an effort to have him arrested.

4- Call Me Maybe, featuring Justin Bieber, Selena, Ashley Tisdale

A hit by Canadian Carly Rae Jepsen that exploded on the air waves was then "mocked" by another Canadian musician, Bieber, and his female gal pals.

5- Surprise Britney Learns Gangnam Style from Psy

If it weren't enough that Psy took first place on almost all YouTube lists, it seems viewers also got a kick out of watching him teach his hit dance moves to songstress Britney Spears.

6- Steve Jobs vs. Bill Gates Epic Rap Battles of History Season 2

Topping the animation category as well, geek or not, people couldn't resist watching this animated flick.

7- Fallen Kingdom, a Minecraft Parody of Coldplay’s Viva la Vida

Another go-to animated hit on YouTube, this one took aim at the British band Coldplay and their track "Viva La Vida."

8- Facebook Parenting: For the troubled teen

What happens when a teenager misbehaves in today's day and age? Their angry sarcastic father appears on YouTube and smashes their laptop to smithereens, that's what.

9- Call Me Maybe, MattyBRaps & Cimorelli Don’t Call Me Baby parody

Another Jepsen take, this rendition was almost as popular as the Biebs'.

10- Stratos Highlights

Canadians were wowed by the Red Bull stratos jump this year, turning to YouTube for the highlights of this record-breaking feat.
