The annual Dine Out Vancouver event is about to kick off, running from January 18th to February 3rd and increasing its participants to over 230 restaurants this year.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, local chefs are serving up three-course meals for less than $40, giving locals a bevy of high-end options when it comes to sampling some of the best eateries on the mainland.
"We want to keep people interested," said Amber Sessions, Manager of Travel and Trade Media Relations at Tourism Vancouver, to The Vancouver Sun. "Every city has a restaurant week of some sort. It's not novel any more and we want to keep it fresh. Our eye on the prize is getting people to come into town for this and just coming for dinner isn't going to do it. There have to be things to do throughout the 17 days."
Considered to be the largest foodie gathering in Canada, thousands of people will indulge in the prix-fix menus, wine and beer pairings, special events, and great hotel deals. Additionally, 14 food trucks will be on hand for the second year in a row.
“Dine Out Vancouver Festival has greatly contributed to our city’s reputation as an international culinary destination,” said Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson on their official website. “This year’s menu of restaurant, event and hotel offerings will be an excellent showcase of Vancouver’s diversity and vibrant character, both to visitors and residents alike.”
