Paul F. Tompkins (Mr. Show, The Paul F. Tompkins Show) has been synonymous with the alternative comedy scene for years, and now he is bringing us his latest: Dead Authors Podcast. DAP is a monthly comedy podcast and live show in which Tompkins plays the late, great HG Wells and brings other dead authors to the table such as; HP Lovecraft, Gertrude Stein, and Charles Dickens for a round of Q&A. His guests on the show include: Andy Richter, Paul Scheer, James Adomian, and Jen Kirkman. Have yourself a little sample of the magic:
Who is this podcast for: Anyone who loves books, comedy, history, improv, or the like. Despite the hilarious nature of the show, you do LEARN a thing or two about a thing or two. Some of the beats take a while to hit their stride, but once they do it’s always a blast.
Who is this podcast not for: Anyone looking for super raunchy, over-the-top, shock comedy (not that there is anything wrong with that) is probably going to find themselves a little bored during DAP.
Bottom Line: The Dead Authors Podcast is definitely a lot of fun and definitely a welcome change-up from the usual Q&A podcasts out there. It’s smart, fun inventive, and always leaves us wanting more.
