Baltimore Colt Hall of Famer and very hilarious old man Art Donovan died on Sunday. Even though he was a HOFer, he’s probably best known not for his playing days, but for his appearances on Letterman and Carson after he retired. His laid back blue collar attitude and self deprecating style made him a huge late night talk show circuit favorite. (If you’re too young to know who he is, well, shut up and cherish your youth.)
As a tip of the cap to Art, who was the first Baltimore Colt to be elected to the football hall of fame, we wanted to give you one of his better appearances on Late Night with David Letterman in 1986 and a hidden gem of a local commercial he appeared in. The highlight of the Letterman appearance is when he admits that he hasn’t read the his own autobiography which he is there to promote. The highlight of the commercial is, well, all of it.
