Pittsburgh Man Calls In Bomb Threat At Restaurant In Hopes Of Not Having To Pay Bill

Sounds like a lot of work to save 12 bucks.

Creative, but yeah, still so damn stupid.

According to WPXI, a 40-year-old Pittsburgh man was charged with threats to use weapons of mass destruction, public drunkenness, false identification to police, terroristic threats and escape after police said he tried to skip out on his bill at the world famous Primanti Brothers by calling in a bomb threat to a nearby restaurant.

Police said Barry Clapperton made several attempts to run out on his tab, but a Jacksonville man named Kenneth Gray and his group of friends were able to chase him down and bring him back in. The same group of guys even offered to pay Clapperton’s bill, but police insisted on getting involved.

Despite the fact that a friend eventually paid for Clapperton, he was still arrested because of the bomb threat.

“His tab is paid. They get ready to let him go and the bomb threat comes in and he takes off,” Gray said.

Clapperton allegedly ran across the street and made it a few blocks before police eventually shocked him with a stun gun in front of some dumpsters.

The best part of the story? You guessed it: A “witness said what really irked him was Clapperton got double meat on his sandwich, despite not having the cash for it.”
