John Mayer singing a cover of Nirvana’s “Come As You Are” with Dave Chappelle sounds like a “fake news” story that your grandma might send you on Facebook.

This farfetched story did actually happen and there’s proof. Well, Instagram footage (see below). It all went down this week at Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles, where Mayer surprised guests at a secret show by bringing up the comedian and apparent ’90s rock fan for acoustic sing alongs of the Nirvana classic and Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin'”.

The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter-cocksman is currently making the rounds in support of his upcoming The Search for Everything album, which he recently announced would be released in waves, the first four songs arriving on January 20th.
