As our hopes of a full Pink Floyd reunion slowly reached a point of near-futility over the past few years, Londoners were astonished when the surviving members of the legendary band reunited onstage Thursday night at London's 02 Arena during a stop on Roger Waters' Wall tour.

The event marked only the second time that Nick Mason, David Gilmour and Waters had appeared at a show together in the last 30 years. It was previously announced that Gilmour would sit in with Waters for a song at an unspecified date during Waters' world-spanning The Wall Live tour, but when he joined Waters onstage for a rendition of "Comfortably Numb" and "Outside The Wall," fans could hardly believe their fortune.

The performance was the first time that the pair performed together publicly since Pink Floyd briefly reunited for just three songs in 2005 for the Live 8 benefit concert, which was simulcast live around the world.

The reunion between Gilmour and Waters was conveniently timed within same week that Pink Floyd launched a massive reissue and archive-release promotion, but we can't necessarily fault their savvy business tactics. After all, the association hardly affected those in attendance, for whom the moment came and went far too quickly.
