Adele cleaned house at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night, walking away with 12 awards including top artist, top female artist and top album. The British superstar didn't actually attend the show, however, making for an odd air of embarrassment throughout the back-patting industry orgy.

Universally hated party poppers LMFAO took song of the year award for their goofy hit "Party Rock Anthem," while Taylor Swift was presented with the Billboard Woman of the Year Award. Lil Wayne won for male artist, and Wiz Khalifa took home top new artist. Chris Brown was honored as R&B artist of the year….. at which point we tuned out altogether.

In addition to the awards, the show included performances by Carly Rae Jepsen, Carrie Underwood, Usher, Kelly Clarkson, the Wanted, LMFAO, Linkin Park, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry, who debuted "Wide Awake," a new single recorded for her upcoming 3D concert movie. The show included several tributes, including a quickly arranged one for Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb, who died over the weekend, as well as a medley of Donna Summer tunes performed by Natasha Bedingfield. Cee Lo Green and Goodie Mob performed "Fight for Your Right" in memory of Adam Yauch, and John Legend teamed with Jordin Sparks to perform a medley of Whitney Houston songs in memory of the R&B titan.
