Acting legend Robert De Niro reportedly confronted Hip-Hop heavyweight Jay-Z earlier this week over a series of unreturned phone calls, publicly lambasting him for being "rude" and not returning the Hollywood icon's correspondence in regards to a song Jay-Z agreed to record for the Tribeca Film Festival.

The altercation reportedly took place at actor Leonardo DiCaprio's birthday party in New York City, where according to reports, De Niro scolded Jay in front of a room full of people. Jay reportedly tried to joke his way out of the situation, and even his wife, Beyoncé, tried to intervene, but De Niro was unamused and undeterred.

"Bob wasn't in any mood to make polite conversation," the source told the New York Post. "He told Jay that if somebody calls you six times, you call them back. It doesn't matter who you are, that is just rude."

Ironically, on Hova's classic track "Empire State of Mind," he raps about living next to the famous actor:

"Yeah, I'm out that Brooklyn /Now I'm down in Tribeca/Right next to DeNiro /But I'll be hood forever /I'm the new Sinatra/And since I made it here/I can make it anywhere"
